IQAlert is a companion app for registered Garmin watch apps and watchfaces.
IQAlert can be particularly useful for Garmin watchfaces. These might need to alert the user periodically. However, due to limitations imposed by Garmin on watchface functionality, they can not issue, by themselves, alerts for the user, e.g. by vibrating the watch.
IQAlert makes such alerts possible. A watch app can send a command to IQAlert which then produces a notification on the phone, together with text, vibration and sound (depending on the command sent).
The notification is then sent to the watch, displaying the notification text and vibrating the watch – which is standard behavior for notifications arriving on the watch.
Due to limitations imposed by Garmin on watch-phone communications, a Garmin watchface can send such alert commands to the phone maximally every 5 minutes.
IQAlert starts listening to messages from registered Garmin watch apps/watchfaces as soon as it is installed.
The user can stop and restart this listening process. IQAlert works, even when it is in the background.
For all this to work, you have to allow Notifications to be sent to the watch. You can do this in your watch’s settings. You might also have to configure Notifications and Vibrations on the phone, if you want to play sounds or let the phone vibrate when an Alert arrives from the watch.
Furthermore, the phone has to be in Bluetooth range from the watch.
IQAlert can be installed from Google’s Play Store, here:
